Clash Royale is a tower rush video game that pits players in games featuring two or four players (1v1 or 2v2) where the purpose is to destroy the opposing towers, together with the destruction of the"King's Tower" being an immediate triumph. After three minutes, if both of these players/teams have an equal quantity of crowns or none at all of the match continues to a 2-minute overtime period and the player who destroys an opposing tower wins immediately. If no towers are destroyed during overtime, there's a tiebreaker, where all towers quickly get rid of health, and the tower with the least health is ruined. If two towers have the same health, there's a draw. After an upgrade in late 2018, leaving a 2v2 match multiple times prevents the player from playing 2v2 with random players for a while.
In Clash Royale, players are ranked by their number of decorations. Players level up by gaining Experience (or King Level) points through donating and updating cards. The greatest possible level is level 13. The December 2018 Update additional Star Points for excessive Experience when players reach level 13, and will award Star Points for previously leftover Experience.
Trophies are lost or won through multiplayer battles, a player wins a battle by destroying more towers than the opponent (each ruined tower being represented as a'crown'), or by destroying the opponent's King's Tower, leading to an automatic"three-crown" victory (unless the King's Tower was destroyed at exactly the exact same time by the two players, leading to a draw).
There are thirteen playing arenas in total (excluding the tutorial stadium, Training Camp): Goblin Stadium, Bone Pit, Barbarian Bowl, P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse, Spell Valley, Builder's Workshop, Royal Arena, Frozen Peak, Jungle Arena, Hog Mountain, Electro Valley, Spooky Town, and The thirteenth arena (this stadium name changes every season), with every stadium corresponding to a specific trophy range. A participant reaches leagues after attaining 4000 Trophies.
Playable troops, buildings, and charms are represented as cards. Prior to every battle (with the exception of the first battle in Training Camp), players assemble a deck of eight cards that they use to attack and defend against their opponent's cards. At the beginning of each match, both players start with four randomly selected cards from their deck of eight, except Mirror and Elixir Collector.
Each card costs a certain amount of elixir to perform. Players start the battle with 5 elixir points (0 in Double and Triple Elixir modes), and one elixir stage is replenished every 2.8 seconds (roughly 1.4 seconds in the final 60 minutes of the match and the first minute of overtime, and every 0.7 seconds during Triple Elixir mode and the final minute of overtime), using no more than 10 elixir points. After a card is played, a new card is automatically drawn from the participant's eight card deck.
Clash Royale first started with 42 cards, there were 14 cards for all the three rarities that existed at the time: Common, Rare, and Epic. The February 2016 upgrade added a new rarity: Legendary, with the debut of 2 new legendary cards into the game. As of March 2020, there are 98 cards in the game, coming in four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The September 2018 update changed card amounts as not to confuse new players. All cards currently cap at level 13, with common cards starting at level 1, uncommon cards starting at level 3, epic cards starting at level 6, and mythical cards starting at level 9. All cards are level 9 for all tournaments. The December 2018 upgrade added Star Points to unlock special golden makeup for Max Level cards.
The June 2018 update included the emote deck, allowing players to utilize as many as eight emotes in their emote collection. Players start with 4 complimentary King emotes, but they can get more from the store or challenges.
Trade tokens were introduced in the September 2018 upgrade. They may be used to exchange common, rare, epic, and legendary cards with clanmates so players can get more of the cards they want and eliminate the cards they do not want. They can be obtained from challenges, clan war rewards and bought from the Shop in particular offers.
In October 2019, a free emote became accessible to anyone who joins their accounts to their email through Supercell ID.
Starting from Experience level 1, players can join or form clans. Joining or forming a clan allows the participant to participate in friendly conflicts and clan wars. Additionally, it unlocks the characteristic of trading and asking cards from clanmates after getting level 2. Clan members may also chat and discuss emotes with their clanmates. A clan has a maximum player limit of 50.
On April 25, 2018, Clan Wars were inserted. A clan warfare is split into two days:'Collection Day' and'War Day'. To play at a Clan War, a Clan should have a minimum of ten players which are level 8 and over. On Collection Day, every player in a Clan has to perform 3 battles in many different game modes, which rotate each month. Upon finishing a conflict, the player earns cards, which enter their Clan's card collection. More cards are given upon winning a battle, and players make more cards at greater Arenas. For the Clan War to advance to War Day, a minimum of 10 players will need to perform at least 1 battle each. On War Day, a Clan is matched with 4 additional Clans with a similar number of participants and Clan Trophies. Each participant gets to construct a deck with only the cards that their Clan unlocked on Collection Day. Card levels are confined to the participant's card amount and the amount of duplicate cards obtained on Collection Day, with the lowest level having priority. Players also need to have a card unlocked in their collection to use it. Players use the deck that they constructed in 1 conflict (sometimes 2). Every clan is ranked from 1st to 5th place dependent on the quantity of wins they have, together with the rank determined by the amount of Crowns each Clan has in case two Clans have the exact same number of wins. At the conclusion of the War Day, all players who participated in the War receive a War Bounty comprising Gold and occasionally Gems or Trade Tokens. Depending on the War position, Clans lose or gain a certain amount of Clan Trophies. Clans advancement through Clan Leagues by gaining Clan Trophies, and higher leagues lead to greater rewards. Clan Seasons last two weeks, and at the conclusion of every season, a torso is awarded to each player that engaged in a war through the season, with the quantity of cards in the torso being determined by the maximum war rank the Clan had throughout the season and the maximum league the Clan was in throughout the season.
In July 2016, Supercell introduced a new Tournament feature. Tournaments are much like normal conflicts, but all cards are capped at level 9. This attribute is unlocked at player expertise Level 5, but can only be performed from experience degree 8. Tournaments can only be made by using jewels, and the creator can opt to make it password protected or open. According to championship performance, players are rewarded with championship chests. In addition to tournaments, there are two kinds of Victory Challenges, one where the objective is to win twelve times while losing no more than twice and the other's aim is to play until you complete the whole challenge by winning all conflicts or crowns, irrespective of losses. A Grand Challenge prices 100 stone to input, and a Classic Challenge prices 10. Completing (or obtaining 12 wins ) a Grand Challenge provides you 22000 gold and 1100 cards, and finishing a Classic Challenge will provide you 2000 gold and 100 cards. Supercell has also added several occasion challenges, for limited intervals, that add special features to the conflicts, or allow players to get exceptional cards. These event challenges may also occasionally be performed in Friendly Battles. As of this October 2017 upgrade, players would no longer receive a refund on jewels if no games happen in their custom tournaments. In December 2018 upgrade added Global Tournaments while Custom Tournaments is renamed to Private Tournaments which eliminated the prizes but added more choices.
In March 2017,"Leagues" were added to the match. After above 4000 trophies, players are put in one of nine unique leagues which range from Challenger I to Ultimate Champion. At the conclusion of every season, players receive rewards based on the maximum league attained during that season. After the season ends the participant is reset to half of the decorations they gained above 4000 decorations. If they got to 6400 they'd be flashed to 5200 trophies at the conclusion of the season. Another feature that has been introduced is Clan Battles. Two players get to battle side by side with another member of the clan facing off against two other competitions from another clan. Here is the first update to add a brand new game mode. As of November 2018, clan conflicts are moved into clan wars since 2v2 battles.
Questswere inserted in the October 2017 upgrade as a set of achievements where some players need to complete certain tasks to get rewards. The Quests section also has a free reward that's given to the player every four hours, up to three times per day. This was added when the programmers decided to get rid of stand alone free chests from the match.
